Where are we going? What will we see? Eat? Drink? Smell?
These are the questions asked in A Kind Guise AW22 ‘A Journey To Nowhere’. Metaphysical in nature, the season is an expression of memories on roads less travelled, with no final destination in sight. Set against the backdrop of the North American landscape; the Colorado Mountains with snow-capped peaks and desert landscapes, small towns and roadside cafes; places that evoke the senses, rich with smells, sights, sounds and textures that so often soothe the soul and leave one at peace.
Taking you along this roadside journey, a palette of burnt orange, forest green, night-sky-navy, brown and cream builds the foundation for the German label’s collection. Waffle fabrics remind you of crisp, clean bedsheets at a motel, the bright orange knitwear is like sweet, sticky honey. Perhaps the scratchy sound of notepad scribbles as wandering thoughts flow in and out; a diary of your travels set against the navy sky, or the rich brown and greens of passing greenery.
A label with integrity at heart with no reason to hide, the season is built from in-house made textiles. Showcasing Europe's finest materials in experimental fabrics and finishes, the Kura Cardigan with double-face jacquard and a brushed finish is hefty in weight, making a departure from a simple cardigan to a hybrid cardi-jacket. All done in warm saffron Italian wool. The AW22 embroidery of the season arrives on the Derbin Shirt with an all-over notepad embroidery pattern atop rich navy Portuguese cotton and wool.
Subtle pieces, like the Gusto Shirt in Raw White champion the proud manufacturing tradition that underpins this exclusively Made in Germany label. Like all other, A Kind of Guise garments, the beauty of this shirt lies in the small details, from the soft hand feel and subtle structure, executed with premium Italian fabrics that are handmade by small local German manufacturers.
