Pigalle x Converse: 'The Power of Music to Change the World'

To celebrate the opening of Pigalle's second public basketball court in partnership with Nike in Beijing, Nike has taken Converse under its wing to produce two collaboration Chuck Taylor '70s that are inspired by the court's unique colourful design.

The pairs were first debuted at Paris Fashion Week mid-2019 and will be releasing at Above the Clouds on the 25th January.

Inspired by the court's purpose to facilitate a sense of community in the two cities, as well as Pigalle owner Stéphane Ashpool's mantra 'The Power of Music to change the world' the duo take a positively oriented design approach by fusing multi-coloured gradient uppers and textures that similarly match the court's design.

The Multi and Black pair feature a multi-coloured gradient upper with detailing reminiscent of lightning strikes, a barely-volt midsole, blue and orange piping as well as text quoting on the midsole heel wrap quoting 'The Power of Music to Move the World'.

The White and Vast Grey pair feature a textured white upper, a white and barely-volt midsole, blue and orange piping with the same heel wrap text as the multi-coloured pair.

Parisian brand Pigalle is no stranger to collaborative partnerships with Nike. In 2017 the two brands partnered to create a colourful, gradient basketball court that replaced traditional green court hues with blue, pink, purple and orange. The court was constructed with Nike's own environmentally friendly material named 'Nike Grind', which is made from 45, 000 recycled sports shoes.
